Contacted WCD to tarmac a section of my driveway that was at the time covered in slate gravel. It was making a mess and not a good place to park my car. John arrived the next day to give me a quote which I was happy with and started work the very next day! The lads worked hard to finish the job at a good pace and were very friendly, tidy and respectful of my property. I have had an excellent experience with this highly effective team and am very pleased with my  tarmac drive with decorative edging blocks. Patrick arrived on time, pointed out choices and issues and quoted there and then. The job included the removal of a garden and existing poor tarmac on a large area. If you try to have your drive done on the cheap, you will regret it. What you should look for is good value and Patrick and his team totally delivered on that score. There was no pressure and Patrick talked us through the options. His advice to go with tarmac was based on his knowledge and expertise rather than salesmanship. Our drive has a camber in the centre so other options would have been problematic. We hadn’t realised this and we were glad of the professional advice. Patrick also suggested a decorative curve around the flower bed plus several other creative solutions that we hadn’t even considered and the end result was stunning. We have received so many positive comments about the drive and though this might sound silly, it gives us joy each time we park ! I have waited 6 months before writing this review in case any problems arose - but there are none and we’re still as delighted as the day the drive was finished. Work undertaken: widened & dug up old drive. Tarmac with Petra Contemporary block edging & new front/ back door steps. The job was competitively priced and in the main carried out to a very high standard. They are a professional workforce on-site as well as being friendly and keeping everywhere tidy. We were given the opportunity to make adjustments to the layout of blocks/brickwork before the tarmac was put down as Patrick wanted to ensure we were happy with the end result of the look of the blocks. Unfortunately, the manhole area which we assumed would subsequently be finished in keeping with the rest of the driveway, has not been leveled in line with the bottom part of the driveway, leaving the tar uneven and jagged all around it. We have had numerous negative comments about how it looks unfinished/scruffy and detracts from the otherwise excellent work done. Unfortunately, Patrick doesn't accept there is anything wrong, he said that this is the way he does manhole areas and we will get used to it in time. He gave us an address of one of his recent customers and said we were welcome to go and see their driveway as their manhole finish is the same as ours. Although that is the case when I knocked the door and spoke to the family, they like us were unhappy with the finish but Patrick again, wouldn’t accept anything was wrong with it. The first picture is our manhole area and the tray rim is not visible/in line with the tar which is already causing it to crumble. The other 2 are pictures of how it should look like with the rims of the manhole trays clearly level and visible all around. As he promoted wanting to ensure the customer is always happy whilst working on our driveway and that we have a 5-year guarantee (no documentation provided as yet) we are shocked how unwilling he is to accept our viewpoint. He will not look to try to rectify the issue without further cost to ourselves. I have not reduced the rating any further as I believe in giving credit to the team and for the rest of the work that was done etc, but we have been left feeling very let down. My first 4 star review for some reason doesn't appear on the link for 'all Google reviews' on their website, only appear to show 5 star reviews. Hopefully second time lucky!
